Marram grass

Has thick strong stems that can be twisted into ropes. This was done in the past in the Shetland Islands and the plant often grows near the seashore.

Monks Hood

Also know as aconite and wolfs bane from its mythical properties against werewolves. This is a poisonous plant but has been used in the past as a sedative and in treating fevers. The name aconite is said to come from the ancient Black sea port of Aconis.
