Who is this course suitable for?

This course is designed for anyone who wishes to learn the sufficient knowledge and expertise to save and support life in the event of an accident or sudden illness, and fulfils the HSE requirements for first aid for appointed persons. The course focuses on the particular accidents and injuries that those who ride horses may encounter and looks at the particular problems you may face providing basic first aid in a rural or remote locations. It is suitable for stable hands, Outriders and Riding instructors although we would recommend that Riding instructors afterwards go onto complete a 4-day HSE approved emergency first aid course

What the course covers

Managing an incident in remote/ non remote locations

Care and assessment of an unconscious causality

Control of Bleeding

Exposure

Fractures

Sprain and Strains

Asthma

CPR

Additional Information

In accordance with HSE guidelines this course must last a minimum of 4 hours. This is the minimum and we recommend that the course be run for a full day including practical assessment, especially if more than 8 people are on the course. On completion of the course and a short practical assessment you will gain a certificate, which is valid for 3 years

Course Costs

The course costs £10 per person with a minimum number of 5 persons and a maximum number of 12 persons. This price remains the same whether the course is run for 4 hours or a full day.
